Wes' Juke Box

Click on the little keyboard or the song title to play the song.

For those who are not familiar with what you can do with Band in a Box, you simply input the chords to a song using the keyboard and you have bass, drums and piano ( or any other chording instrument you desire) as a rhythm section. The melody line can be input using either a midi piano or pointing and clicking on a staff line. You can then select a style in which you wish the song played. And finally, select from many different top musicians you would like to see take a solo. Most of these midi files were created using Band in a Box with the soloist feature and style as indicated. If you like 'fifties' music you might want to visit the juke box page of a friend who has a great selection of those oldies.

More to come as I get the time.

Instrumentals with Wes on guitar or clarinet and BiaB accompaniment. Don't expect too much from these since I went thru about a 35 year period where I didn't hardly play at all. Started playing again in '97 after having corrective surgery done on both hands. Fingers are slowly starting to come around. Also, while I'm making apologies I'll also point out that these were done using a $9.99 mic from Radio Shack plugged into my sound card with the mic laying on the floor in front of my amp and also included occasional aggravating interruptions from family. My set-up is in the living room and not in a studio. The obvious mistakes are mine alone.
Angel Eyes

In A Mellow Tone

There Will Never Be Another You Blues for Alice
Body and Soul Cry Me A River Meditation Blue Skies
Days of Wine and Roses Soft Eyes Me singing an original song. Come Rain or Come Shine Me again.

The following songs were made by yours truly using Band in a Box for bass and drums and myself on multiple recordings playing piano, guitar and clarinet. The quality ain't great but probably better than some of my playing.
Moon Glow Me on piano, guitar and clarinet using multiple recordings with Power Tracks Audio

Basin Street Blues Me on clarinet
Play Music A Foggy Day. recorded with a G-Vox. Needs a few corrections in sensitivity but what the hell... Play Music All The Things You Are ....and then some. This has gotta be one of my all time favorites.
Play Music Angel Eyes ....My attempt at having two guitarists compliment each other using two different soloists files. Play Music April in Paris ....Parker soloist/BiaB midi by me trying for a Parker with Strings type arrangement.
Play Music Ain't Misbehavin' ...Here's one sent to me by Bob "Notes" Norton who has created a whole bunch of great styles for use in Band in a Box. Here's an example of one of his big band styles.Be sure to visit his web site.
Play Music Anniversary Waltz .... done by good friend Carl Putnicki in a rush for a gig. This is the 'raw' BiaB version before he tweaked it. Carl has put together a great 'big band' sound using 5 live musicians and 8 to 12 midi musicians. His daughter and son-in-law provide the vocals. Check his site for gig dates and booking info. Play Music Anniversary Waltz after Carl tweaked it.
Play Music Bag's Groove ....using Parker Soloist. Play Music Ballad For Bob ....an original I picked up somewhere on the web.

In the 2nd chorus I stuck a phone to his ear and he heard a cousins voice for the first time in many years. Break time! Play Music BeBop ...played by a swingin' BiaB group. Vibes and guitar take melody in octaves then solos by guitar, vibes, piano and, dig that bass man, before going out again in unison, this time with bass carrying the melody also. ....

Play Music Chris' Salsa An original composition by the son of Claude Ciaro. Play Music Cee Jay One An original by Rob Fletcher. Example of a mood theme using Band in a Box. No melody line.
Play Music Cherokee as played by Joe Pass. This midi was converted from a Band in a Box format which was sent to me by one of my visitors. I expanded it to 3 chorusus and added the Joe Pass soloist for the second two choruses for comparison purposes. .... Play Music ....
Play Music Donna Lee ....vibes & guitar on Indiana changes. This is another old bebopper standard. Play Music Drifting Down the River .....another tune composed by Wes' Uncle Sidney Arodin (nee Arnondin). His most famous is 'Lazy River' with lyrics by Hoagy Carmichael. Most of Sid's tunes were based on arpeggios on simple chord progressions which, he told me, were 'warm up' excercises on his clarinet played very fast before a gig. ....
Play Music East of the Sun ....I did this one from memories of an old Shearing record using his style with BiaB Play Music ....
Play Music Four Brothers ....Another of Gary's Big Band Arrangements.
