The Real Book 639ksongs with page reference from Jody & Frangois Bouch. It is suggested that you purchase this excellent book by William Leavett to fully use these BiaB formatted songs. |
From Pat Hollihan

Christmas SongsA nice collection of Christmas songs in BiaB format. |
|
|
This file is 595K in size and contains over 1600 SGU song (I found some more) files with long names. Anybody interested in downloading and adding melody and lyrics and sending 'em back to me for inclusion in the alphabetized zips? Or hows about some nice BiaB arrangements from you advanced users to show newbies what can be done with BiaB? |
454K 131 styles. Here are the styles files once again. Somebody called to my attention that they were missing. These are 'user' created files. Your contributions are welcome. Please, do NOT send any copyrighted styles such as those from PGMusic or Norton nor any minor alternations or name changes to such files.. |
In order to get a better idea of what you are looking for
to download when visiting this site I'd appreciate y'all filling out this survey
every time
you come here to download some files. It will give me and you an idea of what your fellow
Band in a Box enthusiasts are like plus it is the only way I can get a count of the activity and how many
hits are made to this page. How many jazz, rock, country, etc., musicians, what instruments played, etc.
Sorry to be such a pain but your input will help.
Take me to the Poll Page
INFO:
You will probably still find occasional instances when a song may
be in two zips such as 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' in 'S-Songs.zip' and
maybe listed as 'Rainbow' in 'R-Songs.zip'. You got the picture.
There are also duplications of some
tunes where style or arrangement has prompted me to keep more
than one version. Please sign the guest book if you
download any files and let me know what you would like to see in
the future as well as any comments about what is presently here.
Thanks.
a New Program just in from Italy.
Ain't this fun?
EXCELLENT OLD DOS PROGRAM TO CHECK OUT.
If any of you are having a problem with duplicate files I might suggest you download DFL.ZIP or Duplicate File Locator. It is a DOS program I picked up a few years back and is excellent for eliminating duplicate files. It will recognize duplicates even under different names by using an 'alias' function. I've renamed the .exe file to simply DFL.EXE rather than the longer name in the zip.
More neat programs to check out.
CHORD is a neat little program which will print out the chords only for any BiaB songs.
Bitmap.drv will allow you to print notation to a bitmap file. Just put it in your /windows/system directory and configure your printer to send output to BITMAP.DRV
Midi Refis a couple of files I've received from a regular at the PGForum and a great way to begin to understand lots of the more advanced features of midi files. They are in pdf format which will require Acroread to read.
| 03/28/98 Melody and Rhythm patterns. Check out these Practice songs to add to your collection. These are basically excercises on chord progressions. Great for building chops and learning to improvise. Submitted by Bob Roetker

For a great way to organize and list your new styles within BiaB check out
Denis' new Styles Librarian program at his home page, the
Song Librarian
If you have some nice midi arrangements you've made and like to see them added to my JukeBox sent them too.
They'll be reviewed for inclusion with credit to you if you desire.
Enjoy these songs. All
songs are in Band in a Box format but can easily be converted to
MIDI from within Band in a Box. If you don't have BiaB yet it's
time to get off your butt and get it. I'd also suggest that if you're really serious
about hearing music from you computer that you get a good sound system. I'm using a
Roland SC88vl sound canvas output to a stereo system and am getting CD quality sounds with instruments
that sound like they're supposed to sound. It's definitely worth the investment.
If you're already a Band in a Box user
you may have many of these songs but you might want to check
these zipped files out anyway. I've browsed the net to get what I
have as well as having input some myself thru the keyboards. If you're not aware of this fabulous
program I'd suggest you check it out at the
PG Music Home Page.
They have a brand new
Band in a Box Demo version 8
available which will give you a basic idea of it's capabilities but keep in mind that
it doesn't have all the features that the complete program has. The "soloist" feature will
blow your mind. Input a chord progression and then select from
over a hundred top jazz musicians and you've got a
Barney Kessel
or
Joe Pass
playing their butts off on guitar. Or select
Oscar Peterson ,
George Shearing ,
Miles Davis
or Charlie
"Bird" Parker
and so on to hear their version. Different solo every time! There are many other name musicians
to chose from as your choice of soloist in styles other than jazz. Select your favorite blue grass,
country, rock, dixieland, etc., musicians and let 'er rip.
By the way, I'm not affiliated with
these people in any way other than being a very satisfied
customer. Check out some of the other links below
as well. They will lead you to other sites of interest.
You might check out the following news areas where you can exchange files with others.
There are many other music areas available besides these few listed. Activity in the band.in.a.box
section has been pathetic in the past but your participation will make it hum.
The music makers guitar jazz group is a great bunch of jazz guitarists who exchange tips, techniques, and lots of
very interesting exchanges in general.
I have sent 2 emails to the Harry Fox Agency requesting them to advise me of which songs are in violation of any copyright
laws. So that they can properly assess which are in violation and which are not, I am reactivating the page,
for their benefit, the page at which the songs are available for download. When I receive word from them as to
which songs must be removed, I will comply so as to be sure this site is not in violation of any copyright laws.
" From Users" Year to date Hey!
Listen up!
These are files which I've received from other BiaB users . This file
will be updated whenever I receive new contributions from BiaB users.
New visitors can download all files received by me from contributors year to date.
Frequent visitors can simply download the latest monthly zip.
Send in those special 'songs' you've been working on to be shared with
other Band in a Box users. Be sure to include any special 'styles' you've
made or modified along with the songs. Please don't include any commercial
styles.

User of the Week
I'm very pleased to have been chosen by PGMusic to kick off their new feature, User of the Week. Looking forward
to seeing interviews with lots of you cats there in the future. Click Here for the

Disclaimer:
I make every attempt to make sure that everything in these collections is in the public domain.
In the event that anything appears that is not, contact me immediately so that I can correct the situation.
It is hoped that you, as a musician, amateur or pro, will learn many of these songs using BiaB and re-popularize many of
these old standard songs which have become classic. Let's bring good music back to the people!
NEW. Check out my Joke Box page of musician type jokes.
